Size
The DJI Mini 2 is the smallest drone you can get from DJI. It comes in at 249 grams. That means it fits under the registration-free category for drones. If you have a drone weighing 250 grams or more, you have to register it with the FAA, which is easy and only costs a few dollars.
Still, the smaller model is better for those looking for simple logistics. The small drone can fit safely into any backpack or purse without taking up very much room.
It’s easy to bring on any type of trip, from backpacking and camping to global travel. The lightweight means it won’t weigh down your backpack on long excursions.
On the other hand, the Mavic Air 2 weighs 570 grams or about twice that of the Mini 2. This is still lighter than many of the other models offered by DJI and other brands. The packed size is a bit bigger than the Mini 2 but still very portable.

How They Fly

Battery Life
The Mini 2 can fly for up to 31 minutes on a fully charged battery. On the Mavic Air 2, however, you can fly for 34 minutes before changing the battery. This might not seem like much, but when it comes to drones, three minutes is a big deal. The Mavic Air 2 can also fly quite a bit faster than the Mini 2.
